The Truth About Pepper Spray and Tazers

Recently I was researching a couple of things and one of the things I came up with was quite extraordinary. Well, it was extraordinary to me anyway but I will let you decide for yourself.

I was trying to decide what was best, using pepper spray or using a tazer. Since I love to provide my readers with good information on such things I dug a little deeper and here is what I found.

If you want to buy pepper spray or a tazer here is what you should look for. Pepper spray is a self defense weapon and tazers are self defense weapons, obvious. When you get pepper sprayed it hurts and when you get tazered it hurts, still obvious. The one thing however is that most people decided to use pepper spray over tazers any day of the week. This was kind of a shock to me but started to make sense after I looked at the facts. So let me show you what I came up with.

Whether you have pepper spray or a tazer you have to make sure it is something you are comfortable using in a dangerous situation. If you aren’t comfortable you can find yourself in more trouble than you were in when you started.

Tazers are great for people that like to buy cartridges of H2O and carry a bulky gun type weapon in their purse or pocket.

Pepper spray on the other hand requires none of that and is usually small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

Tazers do shoot two prong like dart into your assailants flesh causing severe paralysis but at the same time require you to get somewhat close. Tazers also only have a short effect on the victims. When they are darted they will go down but they have a much faster recovery time than they would have had with pepper spray.

If you spray someone with pepper spray you can pretty much guarantee they are down for the count for at least twenty minutes. Pepper spray is so potent and effective it is used on dogs, bears and anything else you can think of spraying if you feel in danger.

I usually like to recommend pepper spray when someone asks me what self defense weapon I should use. When you add up all the pros vs. cons regarding the two products it is pretty relevant what you should do. Go with something that is light weight, small enough to fit in your pocket, and VERY effective. So if you’re looking for all those traits in a self defense product, pepper spray is the way to go.

Mental Self Defense: Procrastination

I’m sure like me, most of you find yourself procrastinating on a lot of things you wish you wouldn’t. The one thing I find myself procrastinating on the most is my business. As you can amagine this can be a huge blow to the income level. Even though I have been procrastinating on a few things I have found a few ways to stop it and I wanted to share those with you now. If you have a printer or a notepad please do yourself a favor and either print this out or write the steps down. You will thank me later when your work multiplies.

The first thing I want to share with you is what I believe is the number one reason I have achieved more in the last year than I ever have. I’m sure most of you have heard of Tim Ferris the guy who wrote the Four Hour Work Week? Well in his book Tim talks about how he uses a simple technique that allows him to get more done in a week than he usually got done in a month. This technique is the “2 things” rule.

Basically what you do is write down two things every night before you go to bed that you would like to accomplish the next day. This may seem easy to do but there is a catch. These two things have to be tasks that will progress your life. So in other words you cant write down, “walk the dog.” It has to be something that you know will benefit you in the long run in regards to wealth/personal gain. If you do this EVERY day without fail you will have 14 relevant tasks a week complete that you normally wouldn’t have done in a year.

The second one I have for you is something posted everywhere but mentioned in the Four Hour Work Week, the 80/20 rule. I have used this on everything from personal tasks to leisure time. Basically what you do is find out what 20% of the things you do make up 80% of the results.

Let’s looks at self defense weapons as an example here. Say you have the following self defense items pepper spray, stun gun, squirt gun, tazer, billy club, stun baton, lollipop, stink bomb, leather whip (don’t ask) and an electric razor. Now I know that most of these are a little farfetched and should never be called self defense weapons but in all actuality this is the way people use the tools they are given for everyday life. People are walking around with a butter knife when they should have some pepper spray or a stun gun, get my drift? Now with the above products listed which ones do you think are in the top 20% for effectiveness and security? You guessed it, the pepper spray and the stun gun. So which ones do you want to use to defend yourself with? You guessed it again, the pepper spray and the stun gun. Those products provide AT LEAST 80% of the results you want.

What I am saying is that this is what you should do with your everyday life. Find out what works or gives you 80% of the results you want and go with that.

Since I started using these steps my work load has gone from crazy to controllable. If you use them also I can guarantee you will not only get more done but at the same time you will be happy with yourself and what you have accomplished. All-in-all just make sure you stick with it no matter what. Never give up and always keep your mental self defense up.

Should Men Always Fight or Just Back Down

Myself like any other guy is always in a state of defense. Not that we are always trying to get into fights and beat people up but we are always watching our back making sure people don’t pick on our girlfriends and friends. We always want to be in control and will do what we have to in order to have that feeling.

So my question is this; Do we always have to fight when a situation arises or can we practice the flight method? I feel it is a matter of pride more than anything. If someone challenges us we want to stand up to them and show them that there is a huge lack of fear.

Now, if someone is trying to harm your friends or family I don’t think you should back down but instead stick up for them and defend yourself. What about those times when someone just looks over at your girlfriends butt or chest and because you have had too much to drink you get upset. Is this really a reason to go and start a fight? I should think not, yet it is one of the main reasons people fight especially at bars and clubs.

Woman rarely get into actual fist fights over things like that. They would rather argue with you over the fact that another woman was peeping, than go and beat her up. Maybe it’s because woman carry pepper sprays and stun guns or maybe because they don’t have that fighting gene in them. They are not trying to dominate but only preserve.

I personally have been in a couple fights during my younger years and found that they ultimately achieved, wait for it…ZIP! Yes that’s right, they achieved nothing. So should we just relax and avoid a fight if the situation comes about or should we stand up to the plate and face the self made problem? That my friend is something for you to decide. Fighting is not a good way to deal with problems and that is why I feel it should be avoided. If you fight someone and beat them up what have you done besides created an ego boost? Or worse yet, what if they beat you up? You don’t ever have the pleasure of the ego boost; you have just been beat up.

In all of the self defense classes I have been involved in the main lesson was to avoid a fight if you can. There is nothing honorable about beating someone’s head in, unless, you absolutely need to and that is where the family and friends come in. If they are in danger help them out. Other than that keep your distance and be smart. Walk away and be the better man in those situations. One day I hope to receive an e-mail from saying I was right. I wish everyone the best and hope you stay out of trouble.

Mental Awareness

Being aware of your thoughts is the first actual step to proper self defense. Believe it or not most of what you think determines what will happen in an altercation with someone. This might be a fight between friends or it might be a more serious situation like defending yourself from a burglar or criminal. Your mind in every situation controls exactly what it is you do…obviously. But did you know that thinking negative thought during an altercation can actually prohibit you from and success in the situation? If you are thinking nothing but, “How am I going to make it out of this?” or “oh my God I might not live through this!” it is a high possibility that those thoughts could come true.

Please understand me when I say this, I don’t expect you to be thinking about going to the amusement park while you’re being robbed, let’s be serious. But what you can do is say,”Everything is going to be Ok just stay calm.” Saying that simple little phrase tells your subconscious to do everything it can in order to bring that into reality. This can actually be applied to everything in your life. I am not here to write about soul seeking, personal development but you get the picture.

The main lesson to take from this is simple; stay focused, stay positive. You might have pepper spray in your purse or pocket or you might have a stun gun or even a knife with you. These self defense weapons mean nothing if you’re not calm enough to use them. Once again, you don’t have to be in a Zen like state but you have to keep your mind on your goal and this is to stay alive and walk out of the situation OK.
Check out a post found here called “Mental Affirmations.” This post almost complements what you have read here so far, but with more details and steps.

In conclusion just make sure you keep yourself ahead of the game by using your head. Tell yourself that you will be OK and that all will turn out fine. You and only you control what happens in your life. Even certain outside factors can be changed by what you think and how you talk to yourself. Mental awareness is what separate survivors from victims.

If you plan on living your life in happiness and freedom then keep telling yourself that you are happy and safe from harm. That is the only thing you can do to keep yourself ahead of the game.

Your Goal With Pepper Spray!

Everyone wants to know what they should do with their pepper spray. Yes its obvious that you should use it if your being attacked but what do you do in all other situations? Let me explain.
If your being attacked you spray the attacker right? Well after that should you run away, beat your attacker up, beat your attacker up and call the police, or just stand there and watch them cower in pain? Believe it or not these things have happened to people after spraying someone with pepper spray. Once their spray has commenced, they freeze and sit stand there undecided. This is what I would like to call a big No No.

So what should I do you ask? Well my suggestion and personal opinion is to run. You sprayed them with pepper spray for a reason. You want them out of your comfort zone and you will do whatever you need to do in order for that to happen. You want to stay out of harm’s way and the only way to do that is to take yourself out of it.

So then, what exactly is my goal with pepper spray? Your goal is to defend yourself in order to minimize and or remove all danger. If you want to stay and fight, then that’s ok. Would I recommend it, No. You want to stay out of danger not put yourself back in it. After you spray someone run your little heart off. Get the heck out of there and seek help. If a burglar came into your house would you knock him out and then wait for him to get back up in order to do it again? I hope not even though I know some of you might. The reason you wouldn’t is because not only is the robber very upset now, he/she knows what you’re capable of and can counter attack. See where I’m going here?

You want to make yourself very scarce once you have the upper hand in an altercation. You never know what kind of drugs or influence they might be under. Once again, if you spray someone run and find help, don’t stay around for tea.

If you have trouble deciding when and how to buy pepper spray, there are several sites online that sell good products. You have to sift through a little bit and see which ones you like. You might be able to find a pepper spray review site that shows you the differences between certain sprays and what to look for.

Either way, make sure you stay smart and get out of the way when in danger. Protect yourself, and then run! That’s the only way to go.
